Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO !!!!!
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has stepped down from his position as CEO of the company and Tim Cook, Apple's chief operating officer, has been named to take the helm, Apple announced Wednesday.
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come," Jobs wrote in a letter to Apple employees.
Jobs has wrestled with cancer in recent years and took an indefinite leave of absence in January to focus on his health. An Apple spokeswoman declined to elaborate on why Jobs resigned at this time. He submitted his resignation Wednesday and "strongly recommend[ed]" that Cook be elected CEO, Apple said.
Jobs has been elected chairman of Apple's board, effective immediately, and Cook has been made a board member, the statement said.
"I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role," Jobs wrote in his letter.
As Apple's chairman, Jobs will continue to serve Apple "with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration," Art Levinson, chairman of Genentech and an Apple board member, said in a statement. "Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world's most innovative and valuable technology company."
Jobs is widely admired for returning to the struggling company in the mid-1990s and turning it into one of the most successful technology companies in the world. Under his leadership, Apple developed the iPod, iPhone and iPad -- devices that have each defined their technology categories. Now, analysts wonder if the company can continue that trend without him.

Concept flexible AMOLED Smartphone !!!!!
The key technology of the device is the “Galaxy Skin” that transforms the entire body of the handset by sending an electronic signal. As far as specs go, the display is a 4 inch WVGA one of the flexible kind and the Samsung Galaxy Skin also comes with a 1GHz CPU, a projector, augmented reality and the customized Android Flexy OS. This concept should appeal to all. The construction is very surprising and interesting.

Google acquires Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion

Google has announced it's going to acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion ($40 per share). The Mountain View-based company plans to use Motorola's rich patent portfolio to help its Android platform in the numerous legal battles it's currently fighting, while Motorola itself should continue to function as before.
The first thing that should be noted is Motorola Mobility is not the entire Motorola. You might remember that the company split in two in January 2010 - Motorola Solution (being the direct successor of Motorola) and Motorola Mobility (a spin-off company handling the mobile devices business).
So, Google is buying Motorola's mobile division responsible for smartphones and tablets. The reson for the move is quite simple - to defend Android in the ongoing patent war.
So, now that Google owns Motorola (or it will when all the formalities are over) it is in a much better position to offer assistance to its partners in their court struggles. After all, Motorola is one of the companies with the largest patent portfolios in business and we are led to believe the whole Android community will have access to it once the deal is done.
Google does not plan a merger and will run Motorola as a completely separate business. Android will remain the same - an open platform available for anyone who wants to use it and Motorola will continue to be one of the many Android licensees. Let's hope that this will at least lead to speeding up of the Android updates for the Motorola's Droid lineup.
The leaders of all the other major Android manufacturers already expressed their support for the acquisition. The CEOs of LG, Sony Ericsson and HTC as well as the president of the Samsung mobile division already welcomed Google‘s commitment to defending Android and its partners

~~Apple Wants to Patent Keyboard Which Blows and Sucks Air ~~
Technology sure has come a long way and the keyboard is no exception. However, people have gotten so used to the feel of keyboards (e.g. the tactile response they get when pressing a key) that thinner and more advanced keyboards sometimes just feel like they are missing something.

The technology is obviously a way to improve user experience like tactile response from thinner keyboards developed for ever so advancing and shrinking devices like laptops.
The patent filing by the Cupertino, California-based Mac-maker was published on May 13, 2011 in U.S Patent and Trademark Office.
The patent application 20110107958 called Input devices and methods of operation was filed by Apple on November 12, 2009 and cites Aleksandar Pance as the lead inventor.
Without the complex patent filing language, the technology basically uses sensors to detect an approaching finger and is intended to increase feedback and improve user experience.
Apple hopes to achieve this through a combination of blowing air through vents in the keys or spaces between the keys, sucking in keys when they are approached, making keys more resistant to being pressed, and various combinations of these methods.
Microsoft has also been a company which is developing technologies to enhance user experience for its devices. Last November, the Redmond, Washington-based software giant filed for a patent for a shape-shifting touchscreenwhich will offer tactile response and can basically be felt.
